MEET AMY
Hi, I'm Amy!
I'm a Kitchener, Ontario photographer offering wedding, newborn, boudoir, maternity and family photography. I'm currently serving Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Milton, Burlington, Toronto, and London Ontario areas, but am available for travel as well. I've been in business for 11 years and absolutely love that this is my full time job.
At this phase in my life I treasure authenticity more and more every day. Life is too short to waste it on things that aren't real and with people who aren't real with you. When you meet with me, I'm just going to be myself, and I truly hope that you will just be yourself as well.
It's sort of hard to sum yourself up neatly in a paragraph or two, so here are some random facts that will hopefully give you a better insight into who I am and what I'm into!
Home Sense is my second home. I change my furniture around constantly, I love using my house for sessions because it gives me an excuse to move everything around from room to room and to create a fresh new space!
I'm a book nerd- you can find me listening to audio books on the daily, and I read on my kindle every night before sleeping (so much better than scrolling or watching tv to help me sleep). My favourite genres are spicy romances and thrillers.
My dog is my best friend. I have a little pupperoo named Oakley. He is my world, despite the fact that he wakes me up to take him out the use the bathroom at least twice a night for the last nine years. He makes for a really good co-worker, though he doesn't help do anything at all!
Schitts Creek is one of my all time favourite shows, up there with Parks and Rec, I love shows that make me laugh, I need the humour to balance out the vibes of my favourite murder podcasts.
I have a pretty big potty mouth, the f word frequently pops out of my mouth. If I don't use a swear word, how will people know I really mean something? Typically it's on the positive spectrum though so at least there is that? Don't worry I do have restraint around children and family members at weddings.
I love iced coffee or lattes, but hate hot coffee! I know it's anti hipster to love Starbucks, but I can't help it!
I really like epic locations for photos, the more epic the better, I'm willing to do a lot if it means you get an amazing photo. I often get asked if I will travel for sessions, and the answer is heck yes, take me with you!!!!!!
I truly want to get to know my clients. I want everyone to feel like they can be themselves when they are around me, life is too short to pretend to be someone else. With that in mind, you will notice that I speak here just like I would if you were a friend right in front of me. The magic comes when everyone is comfortable being themselves and is having a good time! The more you lean into being YOU- the more authentic your photos will feel and the more they will mean to you later on!
My approach?
My approach to photography is to document your unique love story the way it exists in reality. I want to capture the way you hold each other, laugh with (and at) each other, smile at each other and rest with each other. Life isn't always perfect, but there is beauty and serenity in that imperfection. I love documenting adventures that couples go on together, and on the flip side, I also love capturing love where it lives, in the living room you watch Netflix in, the kitchen you cook together in, the bedroom where you have your cuddlefests. I want to get to know you, what makes you tick, what fuels you, where your heart lies. I believe that this allows me to capture people in a raw, authentic, beautiful way and helps me tell your stories. This does work best if everyone involved is open to the photography experience.
Fear not though, you do not need to know what to do! I happily prompt people and will also position people and give them instructions for what I think will bring out the best emotions in photos. You aren't expected to be a model, or know what to do with your hands - it's my job to make sure you look fabulous!
You will often hear me say at sessions (with adults only of course) "OMG this is fucking perfect"," that looks soooo hot", "ahhh that's amazing, keep doing that!" I feel like if I was behind the camera I would want some feedback that things were going well, so I am sure to give it!
I truly love capturing my clients stories and documenting all the various forms of love! My preference is to work with people who are equally excited about their photography experience and creating amazing memories. If photography is just a check off a list for you, then we may not be the best fit.
